Hi Halecks,
Just tried the latest version. I have not spent enough time playing but it seems I find generally less loot than before, did you alter anything in that area? EDIT: yes, loot and Zombie generation (when you begin the game and everything gets populated) seem different: also Zombies do not build-up so quickly as before, more slowly. it is not bad either, not being chased by 15 Zombies at the beginning. EDIT: I can see other animals than rabbits. That has been fixed as well EDIT: Yes the Zombie generation looks different. I can see a more varied setup (hospital and military Zombies as well, before it was 99.9% civilians) Can't say anything in terms of FPS and Zombie re-gen. As usual, thanks mate for all those things you do for us :-) Cheers, Anubis |
I will double-check, but I think I'm using the same loot configs & positions as in the 1.8.0.3 release. But now that you mention it, I might be using a file from an older build to generate the loot - it shouldn't be a problem, but I will have a look at it. |

Haleks, can you make the de-pboed missions work as well or do you know how it can be achieved? Usually it should work, but in case of the Daizy Factions missions Arma does not start the mission.

{"ItemBandage","HandRoadFlare","ItemRadio"}; this is the first thing I tried, but it does not work :( .... quote: EDIT : Are you sure your line for the machete is working? Shouldn't you write "MeleeMachete" rather than "ItemMachete"? Yes it works, the machete appears in the backpack (I changed the capacity of 8 to 16) |

After respawn (as a woman) food indicator shows I need food. After I eat, no change... I use the latest Dayz_code
|
I just tried and didn't have any issue. My guess is that had an old bug : sometimes if you take too much time to choose your gender, your food indicator is empty... It should be fixed if you save & reload though. |

I don't understand... I can't seem to put down a tent.. It says: You need the exact amount of whatever you are trying to build without extras... ???

I uploaded a new dayz_code this afternoon, did you try with it?
|
I was using the v2.9 and I downloaded that one around 12-2ish I believe.

Have been playing a couple of hours with the latest version and everything seems to work fine thus far; the pitch tent script seems simpler (and better imo) where it it faces the character rather than a fixed direction with Q and E to rotate (which rarely worked for me anyway). Great stuff, thanks.

well, after almost 35 hours of play, the zombies and loot began not to spawn, I noticed a bit before the bodies of the dead zombies would not disappear even if you're 10 kilometers away.
But it was fun, I found a curious bugs, sometimes when we dismiss a survivor, he's going to run into the first vehicle he can find, then, if he enters the vehicle before we can recruit him back, then the game will not let us save, even if you sleep in a tent, and if the vehicle is repaired, he will drive off with your things. The bodies of survivors and bandits also never disappear, we have to hide the bodies. this was with the version 2.8.1 Walking Zeds. gotta try the new one, see how it goes. best regards PP |
I just hope you won't run again into those issues with v2.9 : the 1.8.0.3 code probably was too heavy in terms of scripts. Arma 2 can only handle a limited number of scripts, meaning that at some point it will wait for some of the scripts to be finished before handling the others - I guess that's why the DMZ delete script stopped working. Hopefully the new dayz_code will fix that for good. Thanks for letting me know about the save issue related to vehicles : I'll try to figure out another way to disable the saves for the player. ;) |

Updated mission files.
This fixes the save bug with vehicles & AI - no need to restart your game to apply this particular fix! EDIT : I still have to figure out how to keep survivors from "stealing" the player's car when dismissed, but that will be for later. ;) I just realized : the survival config doesn't completely work with the new code (I have to edit the player monitor for that); but you can use fn_playerLoadout in the mission file : it's in scripts\compile. It should work with : player addWeapon 'itemRadio'; |

I hope someone can help me.
I started a new game with the latest updated version and the new code file posted on 14th and tbh all seemed great, but after a save, suspend and exit of the game, once returning to that saved game I get a crazy accelerated hunger on food and drink (mainly drink it seems) where I kid you not I'm having to find a can of drink every 2-3 minutes as I'm flashing red and losing blood very fast. This only seems to present itself after playing, saving, exiting and returning to the mission. My other problem is that I'm finding most industrial areas totally empty of any loot, like industry hangars (double blue doors) and the smaller industry ones (with 1 grey metal door and 1 larger rusted exit door). This is making me unable to find any items like a toolbox (so far checked every industry building in Cherno and Elektro to find nothing but empty cans). Only other thing I can note is at one point I had a wire fence kit, I pressed the option on scroll menu to cancel the build when I hadn't even started to build it, this kinda messed my whole game up for building anything afterwards, I tried to put down tents, tank traps, anything building wise would then give me an error about waiting to complete a previous action. To resolve I had to exit and restart a fresh game. Thought it might be worth mentioning. |

I had a similar problem when I resumed a game that I had suspended in 2.9 BAF. My thirst was suddenly flashing and my blood dropped to zero and I started fainting. Before I suspended my hunger thirst and blood bars were all good and body temp was red. I reverted to an earlier manual save and everything was good.
I started a new game with walking zeds 2.9 and spawned near the factory on the coast and found nothing in the entire factory complex except a couple backpacks in a little house just west of the factory. Seems a bit odd, pretty sure in 2.8 I spawned near there once and found all kinds of loot including a crowbar and a hatchet but this time not even empty cans. Seems like the loot script could be screwy. |

That's weird... I just tried with a new game and, while some industrial sites were empty (I was in a vehicle, arriving fast), most of them had all sorts of loot inside : wheels, crowbar, junk loot etc...
I also verified the codes, and the sequences are exactly the same; I don't know what could be wrong :/ I'll do more testing. As for the thirst issue, I have been unable to reproduce it so far. Maybe a somehow corrupted save? EDIT : Just took a look at one of the files handling hunger & thirst, I made some minor changes to be sure - gonna test it a bit. |
Thanks Haleks you're a star :)
By the way, just as a little more info, I entered my Windows user profile folder, into Documents > Arma 2 and I did erase all contents in there for save games regarding the Factions pack but I did still get the hunger and lack of loot problems even starting on a fresh game with no corrupt saves. Does the version of arma patch matter? I' on Dayz 1.8.0.3 and arma 103718 is there anything wrong there? Earlier I did start a fresh game with a female character instead of my usual male and I'm just going back on now to see if these glitches have occurred on a different choice of gender. Will report back. |

Just started again with walking zeds 2.9 and managed to find a crowbar in the gas station west of cherno. In over an hour of play I found no firearms in Cherno but I did manage to find some food in the grocery store. Nothing in the hospital or church either. I killed an AI survivor to loot his MP5 and managed to get a tent off of him and rested for 3 hours in Cherno. Should the loot get reloaded after resting 3 hours? If so, no change was apparent as I usually find at least a couple firearms in Cherno often in the that big fire hall type building with the big red doors and the tower but this time it only had a backpack, nothing else, not even empty cans.
Maybe I screwed something up when I updated straight from 2.8 to 2.9? Should I have downloaded the 2.8.1 before getting 2.9? Is there another updated file I should have downloaded as well? Thanks. |
Updating should be straight forward : just replace all the files (addons & missions) to be sure.
Also, to trigger the loot cycle, you must sleep in a forest. I'll keep digging the codes. ;) |
