I keep running (south I think) until I hit some houses and a barn, two vehicles, 3 zeds, find a bicycle, continue on through Electro, no zeds to be seen anywhere, see 3 stray ones on the way to Cherno. Stop in Cherno to check industrial area for loot, (I saved the game at this point), find a car tyre and clothes, no zeds. Continue on to the small airport (with the 4 hangers) - no zeds, no loot.

Stray animals (cow, goats, chickens) are appearing fairly regularly, I don't if they spawn in as other things do.

Oh, I understand the problem already. I'm just trying to find out if it's an addon causing it, or something else.

My ArmA keeps crashing, because my SATA cable is broken or someshit. But each try, I got to 3-6 towns, that successfully spawned zeds and loot. I can't really rely on those results fully, as I crashed seconds after I spotted the zed(s)/loot.

This one I drove, but I had try it before just walking and had the same result.
I don't have another addon instaled.

But when I was driving, the zeds spawn fine, even before I reached the villages.

Try it without the 0.1 update but there where more bugs, no slots where show in vehicles or tents, so instaled the update again.

I don't think it's addon-related : some people are having the same issue with Factions.
If I manage to fix it with the upcoming update, I'll share the solution with Above.

Meanwhile, DON'T SAVE after the problem has occured; try to load a previous save and you should be able to play a bit before it happens again.

Another thing I forgot to mention is, when I pitch a tent, and then try it to pack it, I can't. The option to pack the tent is there and the animation happens without the normal sound, but the tent stays pitched.

I'll take a look at the tents, I've only really tried to sleep, to see if the script worked properly.

Oh, alright.

I'll try, too. Assuming I manage to fix my ArmA. What makes it hard to pinpoint is that not everyone got the problem.

But I can guarantee that it has something to do with the zombie spawning, or performance. The zombie spawning because when I was in a heli, I had like 20+ zombie spawns per building. The performance because 1.8 seems to clog when it can't read the scripts fast enough.

I will share something with all of you that I find is a constant for me regardless of who's mod it is.

Every time that I am in a city and I notice no zeds in front of me, I check back to where I came from. If I see absolutely no zeds then nothing will spawn. If I see just one zed, then I will sneak back to hang around him. If I hang around him long enough, zeds will start appearing on my perimeter (+- 200m). Loot will have spawned as well. If an AI shoots that zed, nothing will spawn. I don't usually recruit AI and just let them go. I listen for the gunfire and when it diminishes down to nothing, I start looking around to see if there are zeds.

This is not something that happens continuously. I gain many hours of enjoyment from the mods posted here. But there is a pattern. It does happen. The trick is to realize WHEN there is no more zeds spawning and then go find one and stay in that area until they start respawning again. If you cannot find a ambulatory zed, then the game is lost. You either restart from a previous save or restart from scratch.

If you are in between towns and the next town you come across (either by foot or by vehicle) has no zeds, the game is lost.

It seems to me that if you go back to the last spot where zeds were actually spawning and manage to find a couple of 'live' ones, staying in that last productive spawn area will restart zeds and loot spawn around you.

I hope my experience with this is useful in some way.

I have the no zombie's or loot problem as well. I drove from elektro to NWAF and the only thing that was spawning was AI. When I spawned in Elektro, there was a little bit of loot, mostly empty tin cans, and 5 bandits and about 10-15 zombies, thats all.

After around 12 hours worth of gameplay I've only received the no loot/AI spawn glitch once, and I was able to fix it by just waiting outside the town for a minute.

EDIT: I should've knocked on wood... Right after posting this I jumped on dayZ and the Ai soldiers stopped spawning.

Only 1.2GB? The usage in general doesn't drop much when you tab out.

Have you copied the ArmA 2 addons and pasted it in your OA folder?

I actually managed to fix the "CA_CommunityConfigurationProject_E" error by copying the files from Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead/Expansion/beta/expansion/addons and pasting them into Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead/Expansion/Addons
I can't remember where I found the fix, but that's how I did it.

No OA folder? Have you looked into your Steam\Steamapps\Common\? ArmA Directory should also be fine, it will be parsed for Addons. But honestly, if you want to have fun with ArmA 2, and no problems, you should buy OA, BAF and PMC (also maybe ACR), its very often ultra cheap on Steam.
Most user made content relies on OA. Also on BAF or PMC very often.
