Well, Technical time.
Not 100% sure if this is in the Factions mod, but there is a building script used in other files. Basically, if one have one building item (as the guy above me stated) a blue scroll menu will appear in you action menu, if you click on this, it will either ask what materials you want to use, or have recipes that you can follow. Basically, for example; Wood+Wood+Barbed wire=Wire fence (thats not a real recipe) The only complication is you need the EXACT amount of what ever materials you will be using, for example the above recipe will not work if, in your inventory, you have Wood x3 (when you need two) and barbed wire x2 (when you need one). If any one understands any of that, and would care to translate or "dumb it down" that would be much obliged. Thanks |
Hi fellas!
I've been working on a small update wich should be available soon; here's what to expect in Factions 2.7 : - Loot clean up script : piles of loot will be deleted every two hours, wich should help with performances and stability on long term playthroughs. - The journal now properly informs you on the number of days you survived (Thanks to Aggelon and Vive les Canards!) - Heli patrols can only be triggered once (until I figure out a better way to control the helis population); they now have unlimited fuel. Just some tests to run and a couple of scripts to fix and it should be ready! |
Haleks, Many thanks for your continual support and development of the various DaiZy mods. Looking forward to Factions 2.7 Can you advise if 'Remove Built Items' is incorporated in 2.7 ? I don't seem to get this feature in 2.6.1 since I cannot remove any structure that I have constructed. |
Do you have an error message about a missing file or do all of your attempts fail? In my experience this feature was broken in the original script - I might have to re-write some parts of it (if I can). Also, the loot clean up script seems to be working fine so far, but I'm still testing it : I'm afraid it might delete the helicrashes loot as well. If this is the case, I'll most likely come up with some work around it, like having the helicrash loot spawning in a couple of small boxes around the wreck... |
So, I've been playing for a couple days. I initially tried the one with no cheats. I'm not used to the new system and I haven't gotten used to it yet. I kept dying and zombies would see me before I saw them.
Well, anyway I moved to the cheats, I hated not having a way to defend myself in the beginning. So I would give myself a revolver with some ammo and head off. Well, I've gotten better with the zombies and all. Its the AI and bandits that keep getting me. I finally get some decent weapons and found a bike to fix up and this "Rifleman" (As the map says) starts unloading on me. I swear they never miss, I started using the heal cheat. I kept using it. I went into the "Coma" mode and used the health cheat. It went away but my character wouldn't do anything. I could access my gear and drop stuff. But I couldn't shoot or look around or stand up. I was stuck in prone. The rifleman just kept shooting as I kept healing. I swear he went through like 6 magazines of some Ak variant ammo. Never missed either, even though I was stuck proned in grass. My question is, is it possible for you to add a cheat that allows me to not take damage? For me to just not die unless I hit restart. Also, I feel as the AI enemy's are a little too accurate or overpowered. Just my 2 cents. EDIT: Found out that having a "Killing" squad and walking through Cherno and killing all zombies is hella fun. |
My 2 cents as well. There is a map without ai. Either use that map or wait till god mode option, but dont argue about bots, they are already not as powerful as you described them.

What i did is,i got three friendly and repaired a UH-1Y....then i put each friendly on door gun and fly above bandits....i hover over the bandits and the friendly will shoot them, then i land the heli and loot them....huge profit....AI not shooting to my heli.....out of 11 bandits, only one shoot at heli with a winchester....I set AI to expert mode.

Haleks, No error messages of any kind. There is not even an option on the scroll menu to remove the built structure. By that I am referring to the 'remove' menu as shown in Daimyo's Basebuilding footage at the 3:25m mark:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5H4lcM_q4c In any case, this is not a dealbreaker for me and I understand you have more pressing issues to tackle. I can always plan and test out structure placement by reverting to savegames. I'm glad you are working on the loot clean-ups. Hopefully that is the cause of the game lags and stutters and your work may provide a solution for a problem many of us are experiencing as we play deeper into the game. I don't normally experience the lags and stutters even after accumulating a really large load of gear with 24 hours in-game time but I did the hoarding by spending all my time at Elektro. However, I notice a significant degradation in game performance (lags, stutters and significant lack of smoothness) after I started moving all my gear to new hoard point at Berezino by making several cargo runs using the UH-1 Huey that I found and fixed at Elektro. Thanks again for keeping us in the loop with the developments. Will wait for v2.7 with much anticipation. |

xtremebond007, if you dont use cheats then read few of my posts i made not long ago how to get unlimited ammo for helicopter, how to capture patrolling helicopter and how to pinpoint targets using command menu. The thing is that patrolling helicopters seem to have a repair ability. For example while you try to shoot that helicopter down, it will take damage thus forcing ai to land, but as soon as it lands and all ai come out to defend it, all damage on helicopter would be cancelled out. Thus buy capturing one of those and getting your heli damaged, you basically would need just to land heli , empty it from any passengers, wait few seconds and you would see that its broken glass instatly gets like new(thats a sign that it has repaired). Also while its still damaged and you have toolbox you wond see any damaged parts list(thats another sign that helicopter has repair ability). Out of 9 helicopters that i captured, only got one that needed to be repaired manually, the rest had that repair ability.
P.S.:AI actually will almost always shoot your helicopter as soon as they see you on fairly close distance, though some ai with snipers will shoot you from afar. And also as far as i know that difficulty thing affects only the ability to switch to 3rd person view, see objects' names, and see distance when aiming at object. |

What are you saying? I didn't ask about getting a fully repaired heli without cheating......i was just saying about most AI ignoring heli and how they are underpowered even in expert settings for AI. And there is a way to set the skill of AI in the difficulty menu--from Novice to Expert AI.... May be next time read the full post and then reply |

Hi Haleks, After playing few hours,i found that the AI bandits stays at one place and don't move around too much.So its a waste of AI in deep forests where the player go very rare.If the AI move around a lot and try to hunt down players, that would be cool....more realistic like in the multiplayer, and less lag since most of them gets killed. Just a thought. Also Zed spawning decreasing when time goes by (i mean after playing for several hours, new towns has no zeds at all).
Have a nice day |
Not in my experience. Are you running any of the recommended CoWar add-ons (they are listed in Post#1) ? Using those CoWar modules, the AI does move around. Quite often, they put the sneak on you. I wouldn't expect them to be on par with a capable human player but they can be fairly capable and certainly warrant a good dose of caution if you go hunting for them. I have reloaded several savegames multiple times and on each reload, I notice the AI frequently does not do the same thing on each reload.....meaning they still behave dynamically within the limitations of their programming code. |
I never used Cowar mod.....i'm going to use it after reading your post.....i need a little more powerful AI and it seems like the cowar mode does a lot of enhancements to AI.....downloading now Thanks...Have a nice day |

lol. I read your post, and there was a prhase "huge profit" which actually gave your post double meaning, i.e. not only saying about ai weakness but to encourage to use any kind of "imperfectness" of either this particular mode or the game in general. Thus i will try to answer the second part of your post then. Use CoWar mod if you are really that bothered with ai skill.
|
You are doing it again. Why don't you read the previous posts before making a new post.I already said i'm going to try CoWar mod as someone already suggested, you don't need to mention it again. |
My bad. I replied your post as soon as i read it, and only then i read follow up posts which you called "previous ones", and strangely forgot about post edit option. My bad again :)

I tried CoWar mod,now the game behaves horrible for me.What i mean is the hud way points don't show the distance,no icon shows when approaching a gate or dead bodies or loot piles. The crosshair is not changing. And i did used the community addon along with CoWar mod. Also the game feels more laggy.Did you have any of these problems? Thank you Have a nice day |
Do you any idea, when you're make the 2.7?

Well, i didnt install the mod but if you follow the CoWar mod link in original post, you could find all those "features" listed(except for laggyness). Personally for me labels didnt show up as well, i played on veteran difficulty(because on expert i couldnt switch to 3rd person mode),and i didnt consider that a problem. Its pretty much what i explained post scriptum in my first reply to you. As for laggyness itself, i experienced it after very long playthrough, you can read some details in my first post on page 33. Ill repeat again that i didnt install cowar mod, but still can suggest that its unlikely to cause those slow downs, probably this current factions mod causing them.
