also i used to have the same problem before i put the game in windows mode.. and instead of alt-tab you can simply click the task bar when you want skype and crap (it auto pauses the game).

I saw that when i, out of old habit (Used to play a shizzload of SP's) pressed ESC to Minimize the game. I didn't die by that. Pressing ESC will save my ass then.
But it actually happens with quite a lot of the things. not just Factions. It happens in the Taviana RSPB too.

You know, the Friendly AI's refuses to kill Zombies. Idunno if they do that at other peeps, but at me they just shoot straight into the air. they can't turn around or anything, just shoot. It happened when i was being chased by many many zeds, and i spawned in two mates, that i then recruited... They helped a total of Jackshit.

Wooo that's odd : never saw AI shooting in the air...
You might need to do a clean install :/
The only issue I had with survivors, is that they can take some time to see Zeds as threats if they just spawned.

EDIT : I might be an A2 glitch : I remember they were once looking at the sky when I was testing. Might be related...

This sounds more like a Arma 2 Bug, or a installed Addon glitch.
Do you use the latest beta patch?

Im using the latest version with some mods (parts of Cowar) and everything is working fine.

I can alt tab out whenever i want without dying.
The Zeds react properly to gunshots (Bandits AND survivors), my teammates help me a lot!
Against zombies and survivors.
Bandits spawn a lot (but i did edit the function tbh).

No one is shooting at the helis though and i think this is the way arma or the AI addons work.
You cannot even order your mates to attack a chopper if they only have assault rifles/sniper rifles.

I did some editing myself with your mod.
I doubled the spawns of the bandits trigger (i = 0 to 15) and they now have a spawn range of 250 + random 850.
I also almost halfed the bandittwo thingie (i = 0 to 4) and the range is now 200 + random 500.
Cherno, balota and elektro now have 2 bandittwo triggers, so there will be 10 bandits in a range between 200 - 700 meters, thats why you will always meet bandits in cherno for example, which is nice.

I also added in some bandittwo triggers to your existing "bandits" triggers, this way there is a good mix of opponents and their spawning range, firefight incoming :)
Stary and the airfield are now swarmed with bandits.

I also increased the trigger activation range of every trigger, there are all around x600, y600 (60 seconds timeout) now.

And finally i added in some Bandit triggers which only spawn once!
In areas where you would normally travel (for instance roads to the airfield or some parts of the woods).
If you clear these areas of bandits, there will be no more spawns in the future.

Its probably a overkill of triggers now, but i have to say its working very well and there is a lot of action everywhere :]

But apart from that, i did some testing with the helis and how to bring them down.
It seems none of the new mounted car weapons is capable of bringing down a heli.
(it maybe because some installed addon is giving them a buff, not sure).
I did see some crashes but i think that was because they run out of fuel, flying for a loooong time.

To shoot the pilot you need 3 direct hits with a m107, which is almost impossible to do if you have a "improved heli AI" addon installed.

So i was thinking, what about adding in a rare spawn for a strela AA launcher?
Maybe a ammo bix with only strelas and a spawn chance just like cars?
Would be a good job for one of the AI companions to carry such a think instead of a backpack, or just put it in you car.

Hey Firebrand, thanks for feedback ;)
I'm realizing that the chopper I choose is the toughest one actually...
I think I will spawn one of the dayz choppers instead with a crew of "old bandits" - they should be easier to bring down.

I don't know what you think of their current patrol area, but I might reduce it by half...

Yeah I know; I remember taking a look at the code about that - and I found it rather odd...
But I think at some point I will replace the soundtracks with the ones coming from Namalsk.

btw : I've almost finished editing the choppers. It'll be a UH1H crewed by three random bandits with random gear. I dunno if the UH1H is better for air to ground combats, but they react much better than before!
I've also edited the taskpatrol function - it might be because of this too.

I was even able to bring one down by sniping the pilot!

Updated!
Among other small things, the choppers have been greatly improved. I'm now using the UH1H - it's easier to kill - and a crew of three random bandits (makes more sense than russian soldiers). I've modified the Patrol function, wich was interfering with the AI behaviour; it greatly improved the choppers reactions and should also improve bandits performance ;)

Oh, and mission files are now available without the cheat menu.

Just to make sure, to install factions you need to:

Download the latest DayZ version, i used this link for a manual installation (without the updater):
http://uk1.dayz.nu/latest/1.7.6/

You also have to install the latest beta patch for Arma 2, get it here:
http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php

Check your Arma OA folder for a "addons" folder, if its not there, copy the Addons folder from the Arma 2 folder over there (Cut and paste, no need to copy paste actually).
Dont put any modded addons in this folder! (external/modded .pbo files)

Install DayZ like recommended (modfolder) and rename the folder to something you like, for example @DayZFactions

Download DayZ Factions and copy all the files from the addons folder to your "@DayZFactions" Addons folder (override existing files) and of course the mision file to "missions".

Make sure there is no typo in the shortcut, for example DayZ_factions and DayZFactions.

If you are using steam, dont create a shortcut, use the "set launch options" to insert the -mod XXXX thingie.

As i said, never had troubles with DayZ Factions or Breaking Point SP.

I don't have any OA folder. I have a Cracked game (JIMBUS Edition of CO). All my things are totally up to date (I got the latest Arma 2 OA Beta too [The 104-something] so yeah) and the same goes for DayZ
