Thanks. I guess that makes me feel better knowing that being able to pull it off successfully doesn't amount to much anyway. Perhaps parachutes should be added in the next update (unless they're already implemented)?

@s3rialthrill3r and @mp5lng
When you are near the sea, land or city: 1.- Press middle button mouse. 2.- Move the mouse wheel and select extraction in the menu that appears on the left. 3.- Press middle button again. 4.- Press once more if the parachute is not opened automatically. @Haleks I found a Makarov SD (with muffler) Normal chargers - magazines Makarov not work with it. It may be a small bug |
It's alright now. I used the autopilot landing function thingy and made it to an airfield. I don't remember seeing "extraction" anywhere though. Do you mean "eject"?
Also, it may be just me, but loot seems pretty abysmal at the moment. It's like everything was designed for those with a tin can fetish. I don't remember it being this bad in the original DayZ. There also seems to be a serious lack of bandits/survivors. In DaiZy Factions, I usually encountered at least one per town or village. Is it because they're getting killed by the zombies? I haven't heard any shots fired yet. Overall, I think I'm liking Factions more than 2018. It would have been perfect if it wasn't for the fact that everything stopped spawning. Is there some way to "refresh" the map and bring it all back? |
Loot is scarce, especially in small villages. You have to rely on water bottles and hunting to survive. Meat is vital to replenish blood, since there are no blood-bags to be found. Trick/Spoiler: have always a tent with you and if you do not like the loot you find, just pitch the tent and sleep one hour, that will force the loot to be re-created. You can do that over and over again. Survivors are a bit hard to find, but bandits pop up frequently in towns and open areas. Watch out for squads of 3 bandits moving around, on top of single ones. Sorry, I have a non-English version of Arma 2 OA Select option below automatic landing, indicating extraction with the translator but should be eject. Overall, I think the single player mode can be focused on two options: a) Mods for a lot of action (many weapons, lots of food drink. many bandits, blood bags, etc) b) Mods more exploration or survival hardcore (few weapons, little food and drink, little ammunition, no blood bags, etc) I prefer the second group. In the past, I play DayZ 1.7.2.6 and mod DaiZy + Lingor with map v038b.Chernarus. It was a very difficult mod, you could be long time until you find a weapon. but no testing Factions. Faction is more action or more survival?? |

Well, based on the first couple of hours spent on Factions, it seems a lot more fast-paced. You'll usually find something useful at every spot and the bandits drop pretty advanced weaponry, backpacks and so on. There's also plenty of food and drink.
It also gives you the option of playing with walking zombies only, which I like because crawling around for hours can get tedious. Sometimes I just want move on quickly and see other things, you know? Slow-paced exploration can be good too. That's the way it was when I played the original DayZ before I decided to quit because of all the hacking and so forth. These days, I'm just not in the mood for all of that. Maybe when I have more time on my hands. It's good that you brought up various options that are available in the mods at the moment. I think it's important to have something to suit different tastes. Edit: Oh, by the way, I finally encountered some bandits. The thing is, two of the ones I killed started behaving strangely. They would fall to the ground and then they'd be standing again, over and over again. It's like they're reliving their moment of death every second. It's funny to watch, but if I try to loot their bodies, it crashes. Another edit: Actually, it's also crashing with the bandit body that isn't doing the death dance. |

Walking Zed version added to the download package!
@s3rialthrill3r : Are you using the recommended beta patch (see first post)? Are you using any addons besides the recommended ones? |
Thanks for this Haleks, looking forward to the next release. |

I'm using Build 103718. As for the mods, I'm using CoWar, J.S.R.S and CBA_CO. In other words, only the ones listed in the first post.

Haleks, I get random Arma2 crashes since the latest hotfix, never had before. Last time it happened when I approached a dead bandit and clicked on the mouse to access his gear. The Event Viewer does not tell anything useful: " Faulting application name: arma2oa.exe, version: 1.62.103.718, time stamp: 0x5168264d Faulting module name: arma2oa.exe, version: 1.62.103.718, time stamp: 0x5168264d Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x005734ae Faulting process id: 0x764 Faulting application start time: 0x01cf33e4d63ff6a8 Faulting application path: E:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe Faulting module path: E:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe " But the exception code is always the same (it is an access violation). I am using Arma2 OA beta 103718. Any idea? Anubis |
I just got a random crash as well, same thing happened to me, i accessed his gear and it froze shutting the game down. I also have a random error that pops everynow and then. noentry bin/config.bin /cfgmagazine |
Download package updated : I reverted to the old ammo system.
The new one was causing too many issues... :( |
Yeah i was playing again and was able to save right before i checked the gear of a bandit. It was def the ammo causing the crash. |
Is the new package compatible with old saves or will I have to start over?
|
Probably a new game better ! |

I don't think this is normal. Played with the latest hot fix for the gear access crash. |
nrc00 that bandit must be a one heck of a damn mule to carry all these mags :/
On a related topic.....how does the multi primary weapon feature works for you ? i see a hatchet there, i assume that "if" you dropped it you'll have to re-add it to the first slot so you can get a firearm there ! I'm i right ? |
Yeah, im set for the future, no need to go for any other weapon.
But i've never tried having 2 primary weapons on me, all i know is that i have to switch to the hatchet before i can remove it from that slot, my actual weapon will then take the place where it is now. Not sure if that is what you meant since i never tried to carry 2 primary at the same time. |
That is exactly what i meant ! once you remove the first primary...the second will jump up automaticly :/ and that is the problem, it should remain on the second slot even if the first one is empty, i hope haleks find a solution for that cause it's really annoying, most of my run i try my best to keep another hatchet on the backpack just for that glitch or whatever it is. So far only melee weapons can remain on the second slot even if the first one is empty. Try and get a second shooter, you're gonna like it ;) a Sniper maybe. |
