Re: RELEASE: DayZ X [1.8.0.3] [Update: 0.1] |17/02-2014|

It will work with the latest Arma2AO patch, but you will need the version of Dayz that the mod is based on.  Create a folder called "@DayzX" in your Arma2AO folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead.  Then create a folder inside that called "Addons".

Take all the files from your @dayz/Addons folder and copy/paste them into your new Addons folder.  You need these files too.  They should be Dayz version 1.8.0.3 (update with Dayz Commander to get the right version) when you do this.  Then paste the files from the Addons folder you downloaded.  You will replace some of the original Dayz files with the modified ones you downloaded and add some new ones.

Also, copy the Addons folder from your regular Arma2 directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 2, and put it in your base Arma2AO folder.  It is big so it will take a while.  This will clear up a lot of errors when trying to run Daizy SP mods.  If you want to play normal Dayz online later on, you will have to change the name of this folder (I usually put an X on the end of the name).  The server will think you are running hack scripts if it detects it.

Now take the mission files you downloaded and put them in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead\Missions.

Create a shortcut to the Arma2OA.exe on your desktop.  You will use this to run the game.  Go into Properties on the shortcut and at the end of the Target line after the file location put: "-mod=@DayzX" and any other modifiers.  Mine looks like this:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead\ArmA2OA.exe" -mod=@DayzX -cpucount=4 -exThreads=3 -nosplash -winxp

I would recommend adding the other stuff to help improve your framerates in the game.  Your CPU has to work harder to do the stuff that a server would normally do like spawn loot and zombies.  "-cpucount=4 -exThreads=3" tells it to use your extra CPU cores, "-nosplash" removes the Arma2 splash screen, and  "-winxp" runs it in Windows XP compatible mode.

I discovered a lot of this stuff by combing this forum and trial and error.  This is what I had to do to get DayzX to work.

Very nice job u did indeed, but, Above, if everybody is asking for epoch building system, why dont u hurry with the update? dont wanna be rude, just asking..am i missing something?it is on waiting list for way too many months, getting this in your mod will definetly increase the number of poeple that play this, just my opinion, more complex mod of building is more fun, sim and hunt:))

Because it's not something he is obligated to do. This was done in free time I believe and because he wanted to. Above has other things to do as well :)

If Above wanted he could just forget all about it and leave it as it is, He'll get around to it when he is ready/wants to :)

Sorry if anyone got offensed from what i wrote in my post above, but i was not blaming Above for lack of epoch building system, i was just suggesting him, since everyone says it would be nice to have a epoch building system in this mod, so again, great mod Above, keep up the good work

no offence taken by anyone (I assume), its something thats said quite often on this forum. "whens the next update?" or "can you update it soon please" or something along those lines.

sometimes it helps people with their patience and reminds them that all the work Above has done so far is all voluntary :)

This.

At the moment I'm lacking motivation, as well as ArmA 2 getting kinda old. I wanna start on ArmA 3, and re-build the mod I made and lost. I didn't need much for a first release. I've also been busy doing other things.

That said, this project is not ignored. It's just put on standby until I find more time, and so on. If you really wanna build, and have pretty much the same thing as DayZ X, you could download my "BreakingZero" It's a mix between BreakingPoint, Epoch and DayZero. And has been released on several maps.

First off, both Haleks, Above and everyone who ever did a map or addon for ARMA 2, you gentlemen deserve a box of cookies, virtual though they might be. I've played a lot of games over the years and find that the addons for this game are very high quality stuff and keep you entertained..

Okay sucking up is over (for now!) Now comes the pleading....

Above I'm glad you've taken and moved into ARMA 3. The screens look ridiculously awesome. On that, before you leave ARMA 2 behind altogether , can you be convinced to square away the building system in Breaking Zero before you do? I've been killing zombies for several days now but can't seem to establish myself long enough to not die. Also having uneven floors kills any chance of a high rise helipad!  I know ARMA 2 is getting a bit long in the tooth, but I/we'd really appreciate if you could before you move over 100%. I don't think it really needs anything else, just the building needs tweaked and fixed. That way I can get to playing on the Veteran level and not die  before taking a few steps into a city to look for a weapon or ammo.

Anyway, I do appreciate everything you guys have done for this game and I did only recently purchase both it and ARMA 3, though I'm waiting for it to come out of alpha/beta before jumping in feet first ankle weights and a floaty.

I just downloaded Breaking Zero Namalsk. But when I try to start the game this message appears:
"Include file userconfig/asr_ai/asr_ai_settings.hpp not found." What the heck is this?

Search Google for the asr ai files. Download every file you can find. Then copy all the stuff you downloaded into you Arma II OA directory. Copy everything into the @BreakingZero folder you created when you downloaded the mod. Just to be sure, copy all the asr AI files in every possible way. Copy them individualy and the whole file aswell. If that still doesn't work just play around with the Ai files. That's how i got it working.

BTW Above. Is there any possible way to snap build in your breaking zero release? Because without snap building i can't build. everything is misplaced and unorganized.

Download the SOW mod off Armaholic.  It's a sound mod.  Don't ask me why, but it works.
