I couldn't fix it :(
I have a mission file without the respawn script, and this one works 100% fine.
I was trying something on the respawn one, but it doesn't seem to work (assuming that using the heal yourself option before saving could fix it, I tried calling it from the init; the function is called properly, and the UI works after saving - but not upon reloading). I'll try a few more things, in the meanwhile I'll release a Full AI without the respawn script.

You'd still have to make the respawn script respawn you as another player. I'm 99% sure the UI is not working because you're an AI.
