What were the requirements for the older versions of this mod, ie, beta patch, etc?

I tried the BreakingZero [1.8] [Update 3.6] (Namalsk) (+ update) mod yesterday and while the game launched, my character was invisible when viewed from 3rd person and there was no loot, AI or zeds. The RPT file was full of error messages about invalid spawn points for loot.

I also tried the BreakingZero [1.8] [Update 3.5] (Taviana) (+update) version but I keep spawning, in the volcano, dead. The RPT file is full of errors.

A question is also, what was the DayZ version at the time these mods were released? What was the install method since I'm clearly getting some crucial factor wrong.
