The reason why I am asking is that with so many bandits around I tend to engage them at a distance and since dedicated sniper ammo may be scarce, the best compromise is a rifle like the modified M-16 or AK-74 with a scope (not the CCO version, the one with a real sniper scope) and plenty of ammo. Besides the SVD and the CZ, I think the M24 has a very low chance to spawn in military buildings.
You also have a chance to find the AKS 74 or the AK 107 in their PSO variant in helicrash loot. ;)
