Hi guys.
I'm new here, so congratulations for offering us the possibility to play DayZ in SP. I, however have a little question that is eating me alive ! (pun intended) I would like, in the editor, to remove completely the zombies from the mission provided with the DaiZy Factions 1.7.6.1, and replace them with the ones from the Undead Mod by Charon Productions. I prefer those zombies as there are two kinds of them, and I think they're more realistic/dangerous. Plus there is the infection factor. Anyway, I tried, on my own (i'm not a pro at the editor at all) to remove anything related to zombies in "DaiZyChernarusRSPB176.chernarus" folder. Anything that had "Zed" or "Zombies" in it, I deleted it, even in text files. Then, loading the mission provided with the Daizy package, it's like nothing happened because when I start the preview in the editor, zombies are still here, like always. I'd really love to use everything from DaiZy Factions (bandits, AI joining you, loot system, spawn system, medical stuff) BUT the zombies. After that I could add other features (death squads, bombing the map after a certain time etc..) to make the best zombie apocalypse mission that I could play. Would it be possible ? I tried to find a way around this, by making a completely new mission (empty) and by manually spawn survivors and the Undead Mod zombies, but if I do that, a lot of features are disabled (basically, everything that needs a right click, food, thirst, bandages, blood bags, equipping flashlight, crowbar etc...). I guess it has to do with the script. Can anyone help me ? Any kind of help would be GREATLY appreciated. Cheers. |

Just a quick word,
If you want to prevent the Zeds from spawning, you will have to edit the dayz_code. I'm not 100% sure, but there's a file in there wich defines how many zombies spawn per building/type of buildings in the player area. Will look at it later but I think you can set the amount of zeds to 0. This would be a quick way though; the proper one would be to remove every file/line of code related to zeds in the dayz files, but it's much much more work... |

Hello Haleks and Thanks for you reply.
I am going to have a look at the dayz_code, just as a test. I have been scratching my head over a week now to find a solution. Even if it's not the "proper" method, as long as it works, i'm good. Why I want to remove them is because I don't find them aggressive enough. I like the "spotting" thing when you make noise or when you are too visible, but you can lost the zombies too easily. With the "Undead Mod" zombies, not only they can kill you in 2-3 hits, but they massively aggro and kill anything that comes in their sight. Plus there is the infection factor which increases the awesomeness and the fear factor. Maybe if we can add an infection factor and make the DayZ zombies stronger.... But I don't think it would be easier than removing them completely and replacing them with the Undead Mod's, what do you think ? Edit: Well, I managed to get the zombies not spawning by removing some lines in the file called "spawnplayerCheck.sqf", in the mission folder, so zombies don"t spawn and I can keep the vehicle spawn and loot system, etc, but I can't add any unit in the map, or any vehicle, object, etc... Does anyone knows a way around this ? |

If you put the mission folder in the right place you should have all the editing options you need

Ray, what I meant by "I can'tadd unit" is that I actually can add them and place them in the editor, but they won't show up when I preview the mission. Can you help me ? Thanks.

I'm assuming that some files are preventing them from "showing-up". You should create a script for the spawns and maybe that'll do it
