DAIZY THOUGHTS FOR UPDATES TO COME

hay guys i just wanted to get a thew things off my mind and share to you about how i think what will make DAIZY better even though its friggin awsome already!  

number one: seeing survivors running around in towns looking for loot and picking it up just like you

number two: big campsites with bandits patrolling it to keep it safe

Number three: bandits and survivors driving around the outback or on roads (i think this is already being worked on )

number four: zeds attack bandits and survivors not just you

number five: bandit snipers and survivor snipers in common sniper spots that people use in dayz like fighting  each other or you and survivors on the ground like spots in electro or cherno and all the other popular cities and towns

well those where my thoughts that i felt like sharing thanks for reading guys

i really like your list, i invited you to my topic to to share your thoug about to versions for Daizy to keep everybody happy.

i may add to your list ...

number six: team-up AI just in personals camps and no more survivors just spawning like in church....they shoud apear just like you think, entering the town and scavaging :P and less people around, maybe a few looners and a couple , and a tean of 4 bandits, like alpha team  with snipers far and beta team looting survivors or buildings jej also think about you would be awssome to have rometo spawing from buildings,so you can camp your way out from the top of a building....

number seven: less heli crash but better loot in them like in mp, really rare event ;)

number eight: i dont know if this wouldn´t be much heavy for the computer, but increasing the zombie spawn range like in 2/4 and the amount of them like in 1/4 may be interesting to see.... also more argo infecteds, now i can shoot them from 20 meters with an AK and they will not atack me and i can kill 3-4 without problems....

number nine: no rambo loadout....maybe star just with a few bandages painkillers, just consumible things and let the hunter search for the knife, hachet , compas...etc =P now you just may to loocky and star woth and m240 with just to much ammo xD

number ten: have the posibility of having a camp, and if i die well i go to my camp and thats the way from no star always from zero....aslo be able to go search my body would be nice =)

update: i was driving around and i thinkin something else , i feel way to safe driving around, would be nice if  some bandits try sometimes to ambush you when you drive around ,maybe with some tanks tramps or wire fencing....

yes thats exactly what i want in daizy so im not the only survivor looking for stuff and doing all the risky things it will just bring so much into daizy

I think if the ai for the survivors getting zombie aggro and not just you getting attacked were possible to fix, it would be awesome. This would probably be my number one request.

Bandits/survivors looting would be also great, as it adds more interaction, nice list!

-Campsite patrolling is basic scripting e.g. Kronzky's UPS (Urban Patrol Script).

-AI Survivors and AI Bandits scavenging for loot can be done via scripting, but it will just give the appearance of surviving and not mimic real survival from an AI perspective. Something like this is a function that will take a lot of development because what you are asking is to program the AI to mimic certain human actions based on a logical thought process.

For example, humans inherently know they need food, bandages, water, etc. to survive the game. AI don't. So, somebody would have to code a basic logic system that mimics human thought e.g. If an AI Survivor is shot, he/she needs to bandage themselves, take painkillers and then go find more medical supplies.

This is how complex something as simple as scavenging really is if you go beneath the surface of the AI just looking like they are searching and looting and get into the logic behind their actions.

-AI Bandits / Survivors driving around on the roads.

Here is the main problem with this:

The default driving AI in ArmA 2, SUCKS. Drunk people with five times the legal limit drive better than the AI drivers in ArmA 2, even at full skill settings! This is with well placed waypoints and/or markers, too.

On top of this, most of the main roads in DayZ are littered with wreckage that are obstacles the AI will have a horrendous time trying to negotiate around. It would almost be funny to watch if it weren't so sad and take up precious CPU cycles.

-Placing AI Bandits atop various buildings, industrial fuel tanks, etc. is easy, but they tend to fall off the edge when trying to climb down and/or engage targets a lot of the time.

Don't get me wrong. I am not trying to discourage anybody from tackling these problems, but they aren't exactly easy features once you start to see some of the intricacies involved with making them a reality and the bigger question becomes... Is it worth it?

This is a legit question because the stand alone version is due shortly, and I am sure Rocket and the team have already thought about these things and even if they are going to concentrate on the MP aspects... Hopefully the new engine will have better things features than the aging ArmA 2 engine does like better AI path finding, better combat logic and awareness, etc.

hi dayz_sp! is good to know about the considers you have to take in and how you have to do it. I really dont know how you guys deal with the IA but i understand that making bandits and survivor do the things a player does it would be very very hard, but doesnt have to be like that, because i dont see any players needs when i play online eighter! i think with a few random paths for them to follow, patters in patters that emule player movementes around, maybe just spawn with the posibility to choose from three paths, straigh lines for a few meters maybe stop in the corner of a building and choose agains from three paths? coud this work? some times simplier is better, less spawn , and with a few paths to follow in and out the town ,stoping  where the loot spawn =P It doesn´t really matter what it is ..... just what it looks like.... if they cant deal with ladders well then ladders can´t be part of the "act" ( sometimes i cant deal with them my self any way xD) Maybe reducing their range of engaging infecteds to just a docens of meters would create the ilusion that we are dealing with some caustious entitie , they still will need be able to engage bandits and me from normal disntaces doe.... and i really think removing the auto-team up is also more natural and would be an interesting change, after your lats update well they do became better company and i would like to still enjoying those improvements ,but from the field....  really it doesn make much sence to they to just spawn from nowhere and suddenly became my best friends  xD a pausate game experience  based in a few situations with just time to apreciatte the smalls things, small challenge, the idea of snipers is really good, a few of those bastards bandits  defendin/ atacking a posittion with cover from a snipers would be a nice challenge,  looners snipers would be fun to deal it to, in DayZ you may have a madness moment or total peace, or both, but most of the time you just go and deal with the situation, which are not such a big thing but is my speculation what makes things go one way or another .

regard your question "Is it worth it?" Well this just trigger to many thoughs in my head.... as long as you keep uploading i will keep donwloading , thats for sure,Is it worth it? coud and coudn´t just pretty much like everything else, but if you are bored and have the time and enjoy doing it  well keep the greath work! if you choose to not, well thanks ! we´ll always have paris.038b

is zeds attacking players done because when i play it they dont go for bandits and survivors or is it in a future update because that will be sweet

DayZ SP thanks for the info i know it will be hard to script this stuff and dont worry if it can not be achieved because its great any way but i just wanted to throw some things out there for people to see and think about

Something like that is being worked on at the moment. It's hard to give any more details right now, but I don't think you'll be disappointed (if it works).

Didn't want to create another topic, so here it is :
Wouldn't it be nice to have a Chernarus mission including all musics from other maps (Namalsk, Taviana, etc)?
I'm a bit bored with the vanilla dayz tracks :/

I don't know if it's doable, but it would be nice to have Bandits spawn the way Zeds do : right now, unlike the zeds of 1.7.5.1, you have to get out of your vehicle to have them spawn. So you don't know if there are many, all around you or not, how far there are; meaning that you draw straws pretty much every time you dismount.
Except for that, the 1.7.5.1 releases really have a nice MP feeling (eventhough I customize my missions with loki's), and that specific detail sometimes ruins the experience...

Hey guys, I might be insisting on that, but it looks like it is doable...
I dunno much about scripting Arma 2 otherwise I would have done it already... What file should I look at to implement that?

Thanks for the link, I've wanted to do this, I just never really got around to it.

All you gotta do is edit the triggers. I will do this for the latest Taviana and Chernarus. And then for every future release.

It's awesome because you can get in and out vehicles without spawning more AI. So you can actually check what vehicles need now.
