A clarification required

ananthakrishnan
Hi,

I went through the instructions at http://kodabar.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/dayz-offline-single-player-practice.html and I have some questions to help me clarify certain things:
1. If the new mod DaiZy is going to be a new folder complete with it own addons directory then how would it affect playing dayZ online, I was a little confused given that they are mutually exclusive
2. I use play withsix and I know you dont recommend it but this is the plan:
- do all the steps you ask me to up until the short cut step
- I have an arma X anniversary install so I dont even have an operation arrow head directory, the Launch Arma2 OA Beta Patch shortcut is in the main arma 2 directory. So I plan to copy this shortcut to desktop and add the relevant DaiZy mod into the target line - this way I can use this desktop shortcut for SP mode and I can launch DayZ with play withSix when I want to go online for MP
- I will create the extra @DaiZy folder in Documents directory (where @DayZ is currently present) and will in turn be used by this copied shortcut (in step 2)

I did read your instructions carefully, so my plan should work but I wanted to check with you before I end up screwing everything - so please do let me know your opinions on this.

Peace
Ananth

If  the DaiZy and normal DayZ addons are in different folders then you'll be good to play SP/MP (depends on launch parameters ofc)

Isnt that what the instructions do say - create a new folder called DaiZy, copy over contents of addons from DayZ folder and then replace with the rar contents. So 2 separate short cuts one for MP and one for DaiZy should do the trick - theoritically :)
Will post back after I do this today

It worked like a charm, it took me all of 10 minutes to get it done thanks to Kodabar's explicit instructions.
Just one hassle - I always spawn with the character that cannot have backpacks - tried thrice but no luck, is it to be left to chance?

That isn't chance, I assume you are using the version that kodabar provided on these instructions. Well, there are ALOT newer releases which you can check from Unofficial releases forum. They have more features and ALOT bug fixes.

Oh, I did not know that. Can you please point me to a version that is the latest and most stable?

Thanks a ton, I got the 1.7.6 Final release working.
Just one more question - if I have to use another map, then I know there would be another pbo file in the missions folder but what about the addon files?
I guess what I am asking is if it is possible to have more than one map via a single mod (means one set of pbo files in the @DaiZy folder and many maps in the Missions directory)

Thanks for all the help again :)

Hmm, I havent really tried, but I think it's possible IF you dont mind renaming the .pbo files. So its like lets take Taviana, then in @DaiZy folder you must rename all files that came from Taviana mission into Taviana_DayZ_Code.pbo, Taviana_DayZ_Anims.pbo and so on, and for that to work you should drag the map files into the folder aswell. So if you run the game then all the maps/daizy will load up at the same time. But adding shortcut parameters is ALOT easier imo, haha. Good luck though if you're going to try this shizzle. (Don't forget to backup the DaiZy folder though, incase shit hits the fan.

Shit did hit the fan but I did find out a way to smoothen things out.
I have a different question - I keep dying at the hands of snipers or survivors. I basically suck at playing games in general but this is vastly frustrating. Is there some easier version where it is only me and zeds? Just wanted to know :)

There are several versions in the "Unofficial DaiZy Releases" section which include a "No AI" version which lacks bandits. Just have a poke around in there and you'll find what you're looking for.

Indeed, the Breaking Point DaiZy version by Above has a 'NO AI' version.
